ocean theme as a differentiator: in an industry saturated with space imagery, edge technology could align itself with the uncharted depths of the ocean for rich symbolic opportunities.

water as a metaphor for “stateful serverless”: uninterrupted currents; liquid state with solid islands and creatures suspended in the ether; no beginning or end; complex ecosystems all interconnected; a visual counterpoint to cloud imagery.

octopus as mascot: independent nervous systems as a metaphor for the product; cephalopods as clever aliens / powerful & unusual creatures; shapeshifters.

I developed and presented three possible visual directions, character explorations for the octopus mascot, and a variety of hero and spot illustrations made to spec for the client's responsive website.
