Swimsuit Pattern Illustration

I spent so much time in pools as a kid I wouldn't be surprised if I perpetually smelled of chlorine. In this surface pattern design I was trying to capture the beautiful chaos of a busy lane swimming session, while keeping the tone cheeky and fun, like a polka dot bikini. At peek swim times, it can look as if there are bodies thrashing and splashing everywhere you look, with hardly room left to swim. The title of this illustration a bit of double entendre referencing sewing (where one uses a paper pattern to cut out) and repeats (which form surface pattern designs). All the swimmers in my illustration also sport pattern-bedecked suits reflecting the variety of characters one can encounter at a community pool.
